HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHELS!

So today Chelsea is ONE QUARTER OF A CENTURY old!! I can't believe it was that long ago she was born!

Just a few reasons why I think Chelsea is who she is:

We were living in Evanston Wyoming when I got pregnant with her and then in Centerville Utah at the time she was born. We moved back to a home we were building in Evanston when she was two months old- Lynn and I think that might be why she loves to move so much and has been such a great sport about it!

She was born almost a month early so the poor little girl had not a bit of hair anywhere- no eyebrows or eyelashes! When she turned one her hair looked just like Rod Stewart- spiky on top, with a mullet in the back. People always asked me if I cut it that way- maybe that's why she went to cosmotology school and does such an awesome job on hair!

She could never ever stand to have her hands dirty and would scream holding her hands out when she was in her high chair after eating until we washed them up- maybe that's why she's so clean today!

She used to sit for an hour in the bottom of my closet and put on all my shoes and LOVED anything with ruffles and gold lame- maybe that's why she dresses her poor little dog in the most hideous outfits!

She used to hate living in the chaos of our house when she was little- she once ran away to my friend Gaye's orderly house when she was three and stayed for three days until Lynn carried her home screaming- maybe that's why she loves making lists and always being on time!

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHELS- WE LOVE YOU LOTS! Thanks for being our daughter, bringing Dan into our family, and adding to our growing group of grandchildren!

REALLY- I COULD BE STARRING IN THIS MOVIE!!! (and no, not as the groundhog)

Okay, you are probably saying to yourself "Why would she ever feel like the movie Groundhog Day was exactly like her life?" Could it be that last year I had a grandchild born in APRIL and a daughter married in JUNE and NOW this year I have a grandchild being born in MAY and a daughter getting married in JUNE??? I mean really, I only have four daughters- what is the law of averages??? I wonder, if like Bill Murray, I didn't get this right the first time so now I have to do it all over again??? Could it be that I am paying for being the worst daughter ever??? At least my mom used to tell me all the time when I was growing up - "I hope you have a daughter like you one day- you deserve it" and she didn't mean it in a loving way!!! Could it be that my daughters in some awful nefarious plot got together one day and planned this all??? Is this their payback to me that when they were growing up they would come home from school and I would have emptied every drawer and cupboard in their rooms in the middle of the floor and they would have to clean it up and put it all away neatly??? They always said I would be sorry I did that to them one day....

CHELSEA'S SHOWER & VISITING UTAH

Whit and I went to Utah last weekend for Chelsea's baby shower and to start planing Lizzy's wedding. Aunt Marcia flew up too and Courtney and Kyle drove down from Idaho Falls- thanks guys, that was really sweet of you to do!

Whitney is the best Auntie in the whole world- this is my nephew Matthew's little boy Kyle-he is too cute!

We had a great time and even spent some time with Uncle Jeff- he's always good for a laugh or two. The worst part was that it was SO COLD- brrr!

JANE GETS LEFT BEHIND!

Mandy and the girls just came and spent a couple of weeks here to get out of the snow and cold- the weather here was beautiful! Emma loves her bittie baby Isabelle and always brings her with her when she comes to visit, but she was ready for a doll with hair-I know a big step, but it was time. She got an American Girl doll that looked just like her and decided to name her Jane. The morning they were set to fly home she let me do her hair the same as Jane's with matching ribbons! Emma was so excited to take Jane home to show her dad- there was just one small problem- in the chaos to get everything in the car Jane got LEFT BEHIND!!! We didn't realize until we were almost to the airport- Emma had fallen asleep in the car and we searched frantically through all the luggage, but she was nowhere to be found! No one said anything to her at the airport while we were saying good-bye and finally Mandy told her while they were waiting at the gate for the plane. On the way home I got a phone call from her asking if we would make sure to take care of her doll and to make sure that she slept in-between Grandpa and I. So we took extra special care of Jane while she was here: With Grammies Young Women

On a Sunday drive with Grandpa- boy, does he drive FAST!

For FHE we went to Golden Spoon to get Grandpa his favorite frozen yogurt. Trixie insisted on sitting on my lap in the car and when I was done with my yogurt she licked my face clean!

The GREATEST PRESIDENT EVER- at least according to my husband!

While Lynn's parents were here visiting we took them to see the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Lynn had been there before, but Air Force One wasn't opened yet so he was so excited to see it. I wasn't very excited to go, but I have to admit it was great to be reminded about the fall of communism and the patriotism of President Reagan. Politics have been so awful lately- do any of our politicians remember how great our country is and that their duty is to work for us- the people- and to help make our country the very best it can be? Lynn loved President Reagan and all he stood for- the integrity of your word, the joy of freedom, and the love and loyalty for his wife. In many ways, Lynn exemplifies many of these same beliefs- pretty cool that he has choosen such a great role model for himself. If you ever get a chance to visit the library take the time- I promise you'll come away with pride in your country and the role it has played- and it may even help you have belief in politicians again!

MORE Basketball!

Okay, so anyone that knows me very well knows how much I LOVE college football-by August I can hardly stand it until the games start and at the end of the season as I'm watching the very last bowl game I find myself seriously depressed! I've never had much time for basketball but this year we decided we would give it a try. I have come to appreciate the excitement of the game and I have to admit it moves MUCH quicker than football! So when we knew BYU would be coming to the Honda Center to play in the first round of the NCAA's we got tickets and went- only to see them lose!! Mandy, Jon, Linz, and Matthew all flew down- BUT THEY LEFT THE GIRLS IN UTAH!!! I know Mandy needed a little break, but it was so sad not to have them here! Chelsea and Dan didn't get to make the trip- and they are the ones in the family that really love basketball!! Maybe next year!

BASKETBALL and FAMILY TIME!

We had a great time recently going to Vegas to watch BYU play in the MWC tournament- unfortunately they lost in the title game in a TOTALLY awful way- really, UNLV gets to play on their HOME COURT for heaven's sake!! Whit and Ryan came and Linz flew down and met us and we stayed at the only hotel in Vegas we can stand because it's WAY OFF the strip- Vegas is just yucky!!

(Ryan and I tried to explain to Whit that you are supposed to wear the team you are ROOTING for colors or appropriate gear from the school- she refused)
